Biblionix has recently updated its Apollo Automation Service with several key features. Apollo is hosted only, so all customers immediately take advantage of changes with no action on their part.
The primary enhancement is a new off-line checkout capability that lets customers use exactly the same Checkout screen that they use every day. In other words, there’s no need to change modes. Also, full information is displayed: patron info, items currently out, items to be checked out, etc. The result is that procedures are virtually unchanged from normal operation and staff has needed information at their fingertips.
“Thank you to you and your whole team. You have been a blessing to us this year!,” said Susan Walters, Director of the Vinita Public Library in Vinita, Oklahoma.
Also added was a “SIP Connectivity” page to make it easier for customers to integrate with 3rd party resources and products like OverDrive® and PC time/print management software packages. SIP capability is offered at no charge.
OverDrive integration includes:
- Automatic adding of titles to the catalog
- Direct linking to the OverDrive download page with no additional patron log-in required
- Staff no longer has to send patron record updates to OverDrive
- Limit access to OverDrive based on patron type (as well as other premium resources)
Other new features include sound effects in Checkout, display of amount owed on checkout receipts, and other convenience items.
