The Best of Both Worlds between Family and Individual Library Cards
Austin, Texas – June 14, 2007
Biblionix today announced the addition of the Related Cards feature to its Apollo Automation system. Biblionix, devoted solely to small- and medium-sized public libraries, continues to deliver the functionality requested by its customers. Related Cards allows the librarian to link individual cards per library policy and/or a family’s desires. This provides the best of both worlds between family and individual library cards.
“We are going to LOVE this feature,” said Sandy Schultz of the Liberty Hill Public Library, in Liberty Hill, Texas. “Thank you so much for all you do to make our lives easier.”
Problems or fines associated with one individual are reflected on the others in the family group, so the problem/fine can be addressed or paid by anyone in the group. However, the record remains associated with the individual who was responsible for the problem or fine. This allows flexibility in managing the issue, such as deferring a payment.
Effective immediately, all Apollo customers can access Related Cards with no action on their part. This is due to Apollo’s hosted, or Software-as-a-Service model. Access to Apollo is provided over the Internet with only a browser. No server or installed software is required in the library. Apollo is hosted at a top-tier datacenter with extensive data security, generators, hacker protection, fire protection, and redundant Internet connections. Backups are performed every night to a different location and every library transaction is mirrored to virtually eliminate data loss.
Biblionix was founded in 2003 and is located in Austin, Texas. Its staff members either volunteer or work part-time in a small public library. Biblionix breaks small- and medium-sized libraries’ bonds to traditional expensive and inflexible installed software, typically written for schools. Biblionix’s Internet-based services are designed by patrons and practicing librarians. A powerful combination of exceptional software and database skills plus total immersion in the everyday operation of libraries, allow Biblionix to uniquely address the underserved needs of small- and medium sized public libraries.
